Although Daniel Chavez Moran is first and foremost a businessman in Latin America, he is also the philanthropic visionary who established a socially related foundation. After finishing civil engineering in college, at 22 he started working on his company which has grown since then. With a lot of luxury resort destinations under its belt, Grupo Vidanta is constantly growing since its birth in 1974.
As the main tourist destination developer in Mexico, Grupo Vidanta owns and operates a number of resorts and works with 10,000 employees. Mansions of the World is a hotel that his company developed and so are hotels like the Grand Deluxe and the Grand Mayan Hotel. Another property under the same company is the renowned Paraiso Mazatlan.
The thing about Moran’s company is that they also have a hold on a Mexican international airport, the first to be run by the private sector. It is not an easy thing to own and run an airport but Grupo Vidanta and Moran found a way to do so. Nothing but praises have been given to the airport including the Premio Obras Cemex.
With all his wealth, successes and accomplishments, Mr. Moran made an important move in 2005 that is significant not only for his enterprise but also for his country, Mexico. He retired from his executive duties at his own company of 36 years and decided to focus on his philanthropic endeavors. Moran is not the kind of individual who wants to get noticed because he is filthy rich.
In 2005, he established the Grupo Vidanta Foundation, whose aim is to promote equality and justice not only in Mexico but also the nations of Latin America. Apart from inequality, the group also wants to control poverty. A number of Grupo Vidanta’s activities are focused on social betterment.
This particular foundation is self financed and they do not make money on the side. It runs on contributions from philanthropic individuals. In Grupo Vidanta, they elected Roberto Russell to be the president.
As influenced and inspired by its founder, the Foundation has three simple and achievable goals. Part of the education that they give to others includes political, economic, and social elements within the Latin American boundaries. They are showing how these elements are continuously affecting the lives of people from the region.
The thing about Grupo Vidanta is that they are focused on mending ties between different Latin American nations. The idea is to strengthen democracy in the region, unify the countries and integrate the subcontinent with the rest of the world. The printing of books and research studies is one of the things that Grupo Vidanta is focusing on.
Most of the things the group does have a link not only to economic betterment but democratic aspects as well. These are some of the dreams Moran wanted to achieve. For him, poverty should be something that can be eradicated in the years to come.
Daniel Chavez Moran also established the Fundación Delia Moran A.C. in 2002. He named the foundation after his beloved mother and they are working to help youngsters who have no means to survive day in and day out. His mother who was an educator made an effort to improve the daily lives of the poor children in their country.
